We are now in the season of Christmas. This is when things really heat up before they cool down. And you know that things won’t really cool down before we all see ourselves in the new year. So, be careful as you plan to travel within your town or state or out of your state. Here are some important traveling tips you should want to consider before you travel.
Plan Early
You should plan early if you wish to travel for Christmas or indeed for any holiday. Traveling during holiday periods is very different from other times. You are not the only one traveling during holiday periods, many people typically seize the same opportunity to travel during holidays. So, you need to plan early in terms of your savings. Generally, transportation is usually higher during holidays. You need to as a result start to save towards your planned travel.
Extra Money
Make sure you have extra money. The rate at which fuel costs, fares and the prices of things generally inflate these days is unbelieveable. Therefore, ensure to take enough money.
Your Mode of Transport
You should decide on time what mode of transportation you wish to take. You could want to go by air, go by public transportation of even go with a friend, family, or colleagues. Whatever it is, ensure that your plan is tight enough. Make sure to confirm your already arranged booking two weeks, a week and early on the day before the actual day of your traveling.
Payment Mode
Ensure to make alternative plans for your payment. Many people depend on cash transfers these days from their apps. You should want to split your funds and have some on your payment application and the other one on your ATM card, and if possible ensure to hold some cash. In the unlikely event that you lose your phone, you could still use your ATM to make payments. I once traveled and witnessed a woman who could not withdraw money from her ATM to pay her fare because of bad network. The bus had filled up and she was the only one delaying. Someone else had to take her seat. Do make sure you have alternative means of paying your fare.
Don’t Take The Risk
Don’t ever, and most especially, do not stand by the road side to take transportation, particularly on a long trip. Always go to a park or a transport company. You risk your life trying to play smart by standing by the road side. No doubt, road transportation are mostly cheaper and sometimes faster. They could be faster because there are lots of private car owners going mostly empty who sometimes pick up passengers for company or for extra cash. Some people have been lucky with such quick-get-on commuting. But some have lost their personal belongings from being robbed and others have lost their lives.
Security
Find out ahead of your travel what the security situations are on the routes you wish to travel. Ensure to listen to people’s experiences and stories. There are time I have actually gone to parks to ask about the security situations on the routes I plan to travel through. Be sure to listen to news always so you can determine the security situation on your planned route.

Road Condition
Do exactly the same thing concerning the road condition of your route. You want to find out if the road is good or bad. The last time I went by road on one of CharterPro’s vehicle,
I make sure we went on a Toyota Sienna because of the very poor condition of Nigeria road. It was a same day roundtrip of 1000 Kilometers. There was the confusion about which route to take because of the bad terrain. The journey would have cost us a whole lot more in terms of fueling and arrival time. But what saved the day was that I told the travel to drive to a well known transportation company that frequented the route daily and they thankfully offered reliable information that saved us lots of travel time and the associated cost in fueling.
Move Early
But not too early but ensure to leave early with care. Be sure to understand the weather. There are times we have longer nights and at other times we have shorter nights. When we have shorter nights, it’s safe to leave early because the day breaks even around 6:00am. If you leave too early when we have longer nights you may fall into the hands for dangerous fellows. So ensure to leave early but not too early at such times. Moving early would save you a lot particularly if you can get someone to drop you off at the park. You are likely to get on the first bus and if there are delays such as breakdowns or as a result of bad road or unforeseen traffic for any reason, you could still arrive on time.
Be sure to be safe always and do have a safe journey on your next trip!
Thanks for these tips.
